I am selling on Etsy and I am specialising in selling antiques but I think I'll end up just selling a real mixture of everything that I think is nice so you'll never know what you could find there.
Although I have only listed four items so far, I am going out today to get more stock and hopefully my shop will soon be very well stocked.
In all honesty, my ideal world would be if I could be a blogger and an antique dealer and just make enough to live off of from the two of those. I have always had a passion for writing and for antiques and, I think, that's really all we want - to do something we are passionate about.
I thought I would show you what I have listed over on my shop as I think the items that I found to sell are really quite interesting.
And you can check out my shop HERE
Admittedly, this calendar has been sitting around in my room for quite some time now. I was immediately drawn to the picture as I think it is really beautiful and I like the border around the picture especially. Also I found it interesting that the pages of the calendar are still intact.
When I saw these boxes, I thought they were so unusual as I hadn't seen any similar before. They are kinda Russian doll style in that they pack into each other and I think they would look so pretty filled with little trinkets and jewellery.
When I saw this item, I knew that I had to have it. I think that the rose shape is absolutely beautiful and it is lined with navy blue velvet. I really like how decorative and pretty this piece is.
I found this in a shop adjoined to a reclamation yard. The shop was a real treasure trove but it was also in quite a mess so getting to the good items proved to be quite a challenge.
I was drawn to this as they had a shelf full of them and they reminded me of the wand shop in Harry Potter. Unfortunately, the others weren't in great condition so I just went with this one as it was in the best condition of the lot.
From what I have been told, these piano rolls were put into hand operated pianos and the pianos then played the music by the markings on the sheet.
This one is from 1891 and, in all honesty, I am always shocked when something made from something as breakable as paper lasts so long.
I've never tried Etsy but I'll surely visit yours :) This is a great idea :)

Will keep an eye on this as I love antiques. The piano sheet is very cool I've seen one play the music like that it's very clever (I also thought Harry Potter when I saw the box ha!) x
ReplyDeleteThat Rose ring box is to die for! Do you ship internationally?

Congrats on opening your Etsy shop! That said, I think it is okay to start small. Online selling is going to be a process, anyway; it is not something where everything is done as soon as you put out all your stuff there. You have to build up your audience first, and get potential clients from there. But it seems that you’re already on your way to doing just that. Cheers!

Yes, it’s cool to be a blogger and an antique dealer at the same time. You're like an adventurer, who gets to write the accounts of your exploits and your discoveries, and sell some of them along the way. The best part is you get to immediately share this with different people through your online shops and blog. In a way, they get to be a part of that adventure, too. I do hope that you get to live off it someday, and get enough buyers to fund that aspiration.

If more people that write articles really concerned themselves with writing great content like you, more readers would be interested in their writings. Thank you for caring about your content.
